Once you have found the map of the area you are looking for, you can get directions from that place, or to that place by clicking on the directions from here | to here option. |

Find nearby

Also, if you are looking for points of interest (e.g. restaurants, banks, petrol pumps, cinema halls) near that area, just pick from the menu of categories to find nearby points. |

How to search

Under the Directions tab of the top search box, type your search in the ‘From’ and the ‘To’ box and click the ‘Go’ button

If you want to go from one place to another VIA another location (e.g., new delhi to ranikhet, via nainital), click on the ‘Add Via’ link and then enter the via location. |
| • |
You can also get directions between any two points on the map by right-clicking on the map and setting start and/or end points on the map. You can mix and match your query by setting the start point on the map, and entering the ‘To’ in the search box and then clicking go. |

You can enter locations in the ‘From’ and ‘To’ box similar to the way you search for maps (refer to Maps sections for examples (link to maps section search examples)). |

Shows the best result that was found, along with driving distance. |

| • |
If a best match could not be determined, it asks you to choose from similar results. On selecting the one most appropriate, click on Go in the top search box to repeat the search. |

Provides directions for the reverse route. (E.g. New Delhi to Agra, reverse directions gives Agra to New Delhi). |

What: Choose the category, and then the sub-category from the drop down menus. |

Where: You can search for points of interest near a particular location by entering that in the Where box, or on the current map view by leaving that box empty.

Shows up to 20 points of interest found around the searched location, or current map view. Corresponding to the matches, markers are placed on the map. Click on the matches to center that result on the map. In the first section, results 1-10 are shown. To view 11-20, click on Next. |

Similar results

If a best match could not be determined, it asks you to choose from similar results. On selecting the one most appropriate, click on Go in the top search box to repeat the search. |

Search

To search for an eLocation, you need to know the eLocation ID (e.g. mapmyindia, rohan). Just enter the ID in the search box and click on Go.

Found
| eLocation result provides you the details such as address, phone number and personalized directions from a nearby major landmark. |
|
|
 |
Create
| • |
To create an eLocation of your favourite hangout, zoom and move the map to that location, then right click on the map and click on ‘Mark eLocation here’. Then follow the 3 self-explanatory steps to complete the creation process. |

NOTE: You must be signed up as a MapmyIndia user, and logged in to be able to create an eLocation. |

Share
| • |
To share your eLocation with friends, family and colleagues, let them know your eLocation ID and ask them to search for it on MapmyIndia. Alternatively, share your eLocation permanent link with them by searching for your eLocation and clicking on the ‘Link to Page’ link. |

To sign up for a MapmyIndia account, which allows you to create eLocations for your favourite hangouts, simply click on the sign up link on the top right of MapmyIndia.com and follow the 2-minute process. |

To log in, click on the sign in link on the top right of MapmyIndia.com |

User Page

It contains a link to ‘edit user details’ where you can change your details and password. |

It also contains details of all the eLocations you have created. You can share, edit and delete the eLocations. |

MAP CONTROLS |

You can pan and zoom the map easily, in the following ways:

With the mouse
| Click and drag the map with the mouse to move it in any directions. Double click on the map to recenter the map to that location. If your mouse has a scroll wheel, scroll up to zoom in and scroll down to zoom out. |
|

With the keyboard
| Use the arrow keys to move the map, and the +/- keys to zoom in and out. |
|
| • |
Using the zoom control
| Click on the N/E/W/S buttons to move the map, +/- button to zoom in and out one level, and drag the slider to zoom in and out by multiple levels. |

 |
Right click options
| • |
Right click on the map to get various options to change the map view, set start and end points for directions, and to mark an eLocation for your favourite places. |
|
 |
Map overview
| • |
The overview in the bottom right of the map shows you a zoomed out version of the map to give you perspective. Double click the overview, or drag it around to move the main map to that location. |

You can close or open the overview by clicking on the icon at the bottom right of the overview. |
|
 |
Resizing the map
| • |
You can increase or decrease the width of the map by click on the arrows buttons on the left border of the map. |
|

SHARE MAP |

Print
| • |
If you want to take a print out of the map, or of the directions you have just searched for, just click on the Print Map link in the share toolbar above the map, and in the print page click on the Print link on the top right. You can even make additional notes before printing in the notes section at the bottom of the page. |

Link

You can get a permanent link to a particular map, or search result by clicking on ‘Link to Page’ and then copying the URL in the address box of your browser. Share it through chat, messenger, gtalk or place it on your blog or website. |

 |
Email
| • |
You can directly email the link to a particular map or search result by clicking on the ‘Email’ link. It will open up your default e-mail client. |
|
 |
Embed
| • |
We are very excited to allow you to place interactive maps on your own website or blog. Allow your visitors to see the map of a particular location and then zoom in and out, as well as move the map, directly from your own website or blog. |
