MapmyIndia launches in-car GPS
navigation device
New Delhi (PTI): MapmyIndia has launched
an in-car GPS navigation system which provides voice and visual map
guidance, covering 55,000 towns and villages across the country and
said it was in talks with premium car makers for in-built offerings.
The in-car Navigator launched today is
available in two hardware models - Delhi Nav 200 and AMAX priced at
Rs 21,000 in Delhi and Rs 22,000 outside the city with car accessory
and consumer electronics dealers and can also be had online through
Indiatimes and FutureBazaar.
"We are talking to premium care makers
for providing the navigator services and some development on that
front is expected soon," CE Info Systems Managing Director Rakesh
Verma said while launching the product.
He said the company would expand its
portfolio by launching new map offerings for mobile phones and
internet during this month.
The company is currently importing
equipments from China and prices are likely to come down once demand
picks up.
Navigator provides maps and directions
for 55,000 towns and villages connected by national and state
highways and important landmarks within 150 cities.
It also offers complete coverage of
streets, localities and points of interest in 18 major cities.
The company also plans to to provide
real-time traffic information and services in Hindi and other
regional languages, CE Info Systems Director Rohan Verma said.
MapmyIndia possesses digital map data
for India covering all 6 lakh villages and 5,000 cities and towns.
The company is partnering with leading
hardware manufacturers and consumer brands to pre-load the navigator
software and map a host of handsets and navigation devices, he
added.
