If you mention Global Positioning System (GPS) to an
average Joe (or Ravi) in India, he'll probably not be aware of it. That's
because wake for GPS devices in our country is still to come about. There
are very few people in our country who go around looking for a GPS device
or service for their car. But since evolution is part of everything,
things can't stay the way they are for long.
Most of you must be
familiar with Google Earth or Google Maps on mobile phones. These provide
you with just the road-maps and then you have to locate the roads to reach
the point where you are looking to go.
A GPS device, on the other hand,
provides you with a route, and the shortest one at that to reach a
destination that you select. Today we have such a device for you from an
Indian company which specializes in specifically collecting Indian road
data. They have a site as well called MapMyIndia.com and are soon to come
out with a Google Maps competitor which will turn your phone into a GPS
device, provided it has the required capabilities. For now, let's see what
they have to offer on the GPS device front.

Scroll
through the entire article, so that Techtree can show
one hundred advertisments in the process! And finally,
you will know that the cost is 21,000 at the very bottom
of the article. I wonder why TechTree cant put it right
on top, along with positives and negatives...

JSS SATGUIDE
is not as bad but yes they do not update maps as they
promise. Specially the Pune map. PCMC area is just
missing. Now it looks they are releasing the upgrade
today eveing but there is a charge. Everyone gives the
first upgrade free. I have req, them to let us first
evaluate to see if it worth getting the upgrade before
we spend on upgrade. But at the moment it is not worth
recommending anyone as such.

kerala now. They assure me that updates will be available on
