Shivalik talks about how technology is shaping everything focused on building a better future for India, especially through maps and location data innovation. Maps have come a long way and evolved as key component of technology. From ancient historic paper maps to digital maps to navigation maps, maps have became a way of life.

At MapmyIndia, we are trying to bridge the gap between physical and digital world. He gives insights to the new generation of subversive maps that are 3D, real time maps that have emerged. There are live maps with sensors giving real time data of the 360 degree panoramic real view, with live traffic data, probe data and essentially the big data. “We are augmenting this data for connected experience through sensors and host of IoT devices, he says”.
MapmyIndia focuses on the BIG data which is the core component and makes location as an important inclusion in the digital India stack. This includes high definition maps, Laser maps, point cloud, autonomous vehicles, machine learning, predictive analysis, navigation, and innovative technologies created at #mapmyindia to build disruptive solutions. Talking about next generation of solutions are ADAS maps i.e the Advance driving assistance. Taking the lead for ADAS maps, MapmyIndia is building road trajectory that will empower autonomous cars. The gears in engine would change automatically because the cars will have road information of its route. The creation of Indoor maps for malls and museums will help to walk through virtually or physically at 1 cm accuracy with panoramic maps. MapmyIndia is in the process of creating laser maps, already done for 75 cities in India and is continuously building these maps to create point cloud data. These are advanced video maps to be adopted by public and government bodies for planning, service delivery, governance, law enforcement that will improve development, safety and security of the country and the citizens.

India is a growing country and is leapfrogging into a generation of paperless layer. MapmyIndia’s digital eLoc address system is a six digit alpha numeric address system, the aadhaar of the Indian address system that will make location an integrated part of the India digital stack and become a part of the ecosystem that will make our life better. MapmyIndia is creating and stitching all the components of maps and location together and thereby creating the “Real view Digital twin”. India will be highly automated Robotic country, going digital in a big way and maps is a core component of digital economy going forward.

MapmyIndia releases eLoc,India’s first Nation-wide Digital Address System

● Simple, precise and ready-to-use for free eLoc,is a unique, 6 character code for any address across India, removing complexity and hassles of providing multi-line, often misspelled addresses and searching and navigating to the doorstep of addresses in areas with confusing and conflicting address naming and ordering systems.

● Makes individual commuter and travelers’ lives much easier through quick and precise navigation to a destination, enhances field delivery/visit capabilities and profitability of businesses across ecommerce, transportation, and field operation and logistics-heavy sectors, and brings productivity and transparency to government services, delivery and taxation at a property level
● 20+ years, 200+ crore rupees private investment by MapmyIndia into advanced mapping technology, extensive field data survey, and private-private and public-private ecosystem building around advanced location solutions to help India leapfrog to first place in a digital world

New Delhi, February 9, 2017: MapmyIndia, India’s leader in premium-quality digital maps, GPS navigation, GPS tracking, location-based apps and GIS solutions, today announced the release of MapmyIndia eLoc, India’s first Nation-wide Digital Address. This powerful innovation, packaged as a simple and easy-to-use digital address, will transform historical addresses and disrupt traditional mapping and navigation services, bringing immense convenience to individuals and significant benefits to businesses and governments across India.

eLoc will help Indian travelers and commuters search, share and navigate to destinations’ exact doorstep far more easily and quickly. It will also reduce time, money, fuel wastage and expenses for businesses in the ecommerce, transportation, logistics and field operations domains. Finally, governance at all levels, across urban and rural levels, will be empowered with much more productivity and transparency when it comes to civic amenities delivery such as electricity, water, gas as well as property tax administration and tax evasion detection.

What is eLoc?

eLoc by MapmyIndia is simply put, the Aadhaar of addresses. eLoc of any place, be it a building/flat/office/business/city/village/locality/road and so on, is a short, 6 character code (for e.g. 8GDTYX, or MMI000), which is easy to remember, share, type and provide.Behind the convenience and simplicity of eLoclies the huge power of India’s most comprehensive, accurate and precise door-step level, 3D, digital map database and turn-by-turn navigation solution built by MapmyIndia. Hence, the power of eLoc is such that when a person, business or official searches for a place by entering its eLoc, they can see the precise map location of that place, get turn-by-turn directions to the exact entrance doorstep of that place, and also see information about that place besides its location, such as reviews, photos and other information provided by the place’s owner, businesses and governments. More information on what is an eLoc, how it works, and how one can access, use and share a place’s eloc is available at http://www.mapmyindia.com/eloc

MapmyIndia has privately invested over 200 crores over the last 20+ years in advanced mapping technologies and professional field surveys to create India’s most comprehensive digital address database, as a result of which over 2 crore and counting eLocs, across all 7000+ urban towns and 6+ lakh villages in rural India, are already readily available for individual, business and government users to use instantly, for free. This nulls the need for significant future investment by public and private entities in creation of a digital map and address database. For new places that come up, or those that change or shut, or those missing in MapmyIndia’s database, users can add them by visiting http://maps.mapmyindia.com on their browser or by using the MapmyIndia mobile app across Android, iOS and Windows platforms, and MapmyIndia will continue to professionally verify and validate those contributions.

“MapmyIndia’s mission from the start has been to make the world better through maps and location technologies. We believe eLoc is a game changing milestone in India’s history, and like mobile phones helped India leapfrog other countries, eLoc will leapfrog India to the forefront of mapping and navigation convenience and capabilities compared to the rest of the world. Seeing the government’s commitment to the ‘Digital India’ initiative, I believe the time is ripe for India to move towards a digital address system. We see eLoc as the most simple, precise and powerful way of locating addresses, navigating to them and sharing information about addresses/places/buildings/flats etc. Through our own investment and decision to make this publicly available, we hope to encourage the public and private ecosystem to leverage this ready-to-use, priceless asset and build transformative experiences and businesses for Indians and India by using MapmyIndia eLoc. There is no need to commission surveys and reinvent the proverbial wheel. The information already exists with MapmyIndia and can be customized according to the needs of the individual customers. This not just saves costs but also speeds-up the delivery. I am confident that MapmyIndia eLoc is a powerful idea whose time has come, and which will benefit hundreds of millions of Indians, millions of Indian businesses and thousands of government departments at all levels across India. MapmyIndia has already partnered with the Indian Space Research Organisation and its national satellite imagery service called Bhuvan, and the indigenous positioning system called Navic, to combine all these ingredients with MapmyIndia’s own mapping and navigation technologies to offer the best solution for India, most suitable for India, and a solution which we are proud to say is both the best for, and also made in India.” says Rakesh Verma, Managing Director, MapmyIndia.
